Paycor Stadium Restoration

SSRG has been trusted by the Cincinnati Bengals and the Hamilton County Board of Trustees to perform various repairs throughout Paycor Stadium for the last decade.

Over the course of several summers, SSRG completed comprehensive concrete repairs and restorations in Cincinnati’s pro football stadium. Home of the Cincinnati Bengals, Paycor Stadium sits on 22 acres and seats more than 65,000 fans. The vast structure features hundreds of thousands of square feet of exposed concrete—including seating areas, plazas and mezzanines, and pedestrian ramps—which is susceptible to water damage. Many of these surfaces also serve as roofing structures to areas below such as coaches’ offices, event spaces, luxury suites and premier parking, so waterproofing is crucial.

Our structural concrete work included:

Comprehensive concrete repairs throughout the stadium
Steel repairs to reinforce the pedestrian access ramps
Expansion joint replacements both on the plaza levels and through the upper deck
Installing miles of wet sealant and caulk
Applying a pedestrian coating to protect and preserve the repaired concrete
Removing and replacing thousands of seats to accommodate the work

Extensive work across an expansive area

Due to the sheer size of Paycor Stadium, planning and logistics were crucial to ensure efficiency and optimize labor hours. Working in tight stadium risers limited the type of construction equipment our teams could use. Since trucks were not an option, all tools needed to be transported in by hand and all debris needed to be carried out the same way. Weather was also a complicating factor as each day’s schedule was dictated by the forecast. Rainfall stalled the work, which would resume when the weather cleared, often on Saturdays and Sundays. But our dedicated crews braved both the elements and unpredictable schedules to complete this wide-ranging project with the field-tested expertise and no-fear approach we’re known for.
