The abandoned Deaconess hospital is being converted to University of Cincinnati student housing, and SSRG has been updating the adjacent Collegiate Parking Garage. The student housing project is being designed and built around the existing garage. To prepare for the construction, SSRG performed more than 2,700 SF of concrete repairs. Check out other garage projects. All structural repair and modification repair work is complete. Most recently, the team used a concrete crane hopper to pour column extensions in preparation for an architectural screen. The screen will be made of steel and will be installed in front of all open sides of the garage to update its look. The vision screen uses more than 15,000 linear feet of vertical steel members, spaced apart to create an aesthetically pleasing screen so that the garage matches the other architecturally significant buildings on campus. All steel is in fabrication and expected to be installed in March. Students will occupy rooms and the garage by fall semester of 2019. Check out a video of early concrete repair work on this project.
