Aerial view of a one-story building with SSRG crew leading construction taking place to prepare for new rooftop bar. One third of the roof is covered, one third shows beams being installed, and one third is open air.The vibrant Ludlow Ave shopping and dining district will soon enjoy a new rooftop bar and patio. SSRG is performing the structural framing, a vital step in making sure this more than 60-year-old building is ready to bear its new load.

The anticipated Gaslight Bar & Grill is headed for the building that once housed the Clifton branch of the Cincinnati Public Library. SSRG is a local leader in extending the lifespan of structures.

Check out similar reinforcement work for Crossroads Church, Taft’s Ale House, and the historic mansion of Cincinnati beer baron Christian Moerlein.

Past and Future

According to the Cincinnati Public Library, the Ludlow Ave building had been a barber and beauty shop before becoming the Clifton branch in 1954. After the library relocated in 2015, the structure at 351 Ludlow became a blank slate.

SSRG crews recently removed the existing roof. Now, they are in the process of installing a new structure suited for the expected number of restaurant patrons, as well as completing other structural framing.
